Julie King Murphy (LCMHCA, NCC, MA, JD, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist)

In groups and one-to-one, I have supported the wellbeing of individuals for over two decades. Though most of my professional experience is with college students and women, I assist adults of all ages in managing changes in careers, health, and relationships. Though what brings you to counseling may be current challenges or obstacles, I am most interested in helping you navigate life toward joy and wholeness. I see you as the expert on yourself, and my role is that of support person, accompanying you as you face the choices that shape the direction of your life. Through my own study and experience and those of clients, I have learned that practices of self-compassion, connection with nature, mindfulness, and personal creativity help provide insight, rooted growth, and personal expression necessary for a meaningful and satisfying life.

An avid artist, parent, friend and life-long learner, I enjoy travelling, especially to learn from founders and other innovators in expressive arts therapy.

We are all artists.

We see the world in unique ways and compose the art that is our lives with the elements we find and the visions we have for what we have yet to discover and bring into being.

I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (License # A15305). I obtain supervision from Taisir El-Souessi (LCMHCS License # 9032) and consult with a non-geographically centered community of expressive arts therapists. I currently serve as the regional coordinator for the Southeastern United States for the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA).

In addition to counseling, I also lead creativity groups and classes and provide personal coaching. I am currently seeing clients in-person in Burnsville and Asheville, as well as via telehealth. Please reach out using the form below so we can discuss the ways we might work together.
